Standing Model - $275.00 |
The floor model
is the flagship of our line. Constructed of fine, furniture-quality
hardwoods and cabinet hardware, the BookValet
book holder delivers ergonomic perfection for a reader. The
base rolls to a desired location. The vertical column adjusts to
the desired height. |
|
The horizontal arm glides to the desired position. The book holding platform rotates to the desired angle (including angles facing down) -- all while
a book is securely fastened to the platform and the pages are held
open by a unique, patented device which permits the pages to be
turned in a conventional motion with the fingers of the hand.
Just as there are ergonomically designed chairs which permit a person
to recline in a near "zero-gravity" position, the BookValet
book holder permits a reader to position an open book in whatever
line-of-sight is ergonomically perfect for that reader in whatever
sitting or reclining position that places the head and neck in balance
or at rest.
Readers thinking of purchasing the BookValet book holder
should consider where it will be used. Beside a chair? Beside a
sofa? In bed? |

|
|
|
There must be at least 4 inches of clearance under the chair,
sofa or bed in order for the legs of the BookValet book holder
to roll under it.
Consideration should be given to which side of the reader the
BookValet will be positioned. That is because the BookValet
book holder is either "right-sided"
or "left-sided".
If used on the left side of a chair, for example, the legs of
the BookValet must roll under the chair from the left
side, necessitating a construction which reverses the position
of the platform from that employed when used on the right side.
The book remains in position through hours of comfortable reading
and with easy page turning. The book holder platform may be retracted
easily for breaks or adjusted periodically to a new reader position
(for example, when the reader changes from a sitting to a reclining
position on a sofa or in bed.)
Summary: When ordering a floor model book holder, you must
decide whether you want a "right-sided" or a "left-sided"
model. A right-sided model is used on the right side of the reader.
A left sided model is used on the left side. There must be 4 inches
of clearance under the chair, sofa or bed from the desired side.
[Note: Sometimes clearance will be lacking by only fractions of
an inch. In such cases, placing ordinary casters or small wooden
blocks under the legs of a bed, sofa, or chair will provide the
needed clearance.] The location at which the base of the BookValet
book holder will have to be positioned should not be blocked,
for example, by an end table.
